Flint Water Distributions In the Spring of 2018, the State of Michigan pulled funding for water distributions in Flint, Michigan. This comes after the government determined that the water was safe to drink after a lead crisis was identified in the water supply back in 2014. Pack Your Back and Mari Copeny teamed up to continue assisting the residents of Flint in getting clean drinking water as residents were still unsure of what they were consuming. After months of fundraising, over $125,000 was raised to purchase water for the residents. To date, over 750,000 bottles have been distributed.

Thea Colman, of Winchester Massachusetts is an advocate for her craft, as a masterful designer of knitwear patterns. She works to shine a light on small farms and producers that use sustainable farming practices and traditional practices. Making a point of working with smaller, female-owned yarn companies, Coleman tried to introduce her community to products where their dollars would make a difference.
Now, Colman is making a difference in another way.
Since November 2016, Colman has added fundraising to her hobbies, donating a portion of her proceeds from different patterns to charities that promote women, children, and education. Recently, Colman has set her sights on Flint, Michigan.
